Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that highly influences our behaviour, and therefore has a role in our stress, anxiety and mood levels.
Most of the serotonin we produce is created in the gut, which is created by a particular amino acid called tryptophan. This amino acid is found in foods that are high in omega 3, such as fish, grains, chickpeas and eggs.
The serotonin that we produce is then converted to melatonin, the hormone that makes our body relax and get ready for sleep.
