The gut absorbs all the nutrients from the foods we eat to convert them into an energy source. It also houses around 70% of our immune system.
Living inside the gut are trillions of bacteria called the microbiome.
When the bacteria species in the microbiome is diverse, it creates balance within the body.
But when the microbiome becomes less diverse, unbalance occurs over time that causes the immune and stress systems to activate.
The main things that impact the diversity of our microbiome include:
– Processed and refined foods
– Poor sleep
