The gut houses 70% of our immune system.
When imbalance occurs in the body, or specifically in the gut, the immune system response is triggered. As a result, the body releases inflammatory proteins, called cytokines, to bring the body back into balance.
When we are faced with constant imbalance, excessive cytokines increase inflammation. This inflammation disrupts other processes within the body that lead to poor mental wellbeing.
Imbalance is caused by stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, environmental toxins.
The immune system releases inflammatory proteins to try and reduce the imbalance, but when this is constant it causes distress in the body.
